Also termed “crate digging”, in this piece I isolated small portions, tones, or drum beats from my iTunes music collection. By editing these files in Soundtrack, I was able to extract single notes, or drum hits that I could repurpose for this piece—effectively creating my own loops. After laying out this foundation with these drum/percussion loops, I added some of my own Ultrabeat programming. Then I experimented with these sounds to create a rich, musically interesting piece.
